A speech-language pathologist with the Peel District School Board was killed on Monday when her car collided with a passenger train about 75 kilometres south of North Bay.

Jean Anne Lang, 55, of Toronto, was alone in her vehicle when it was struck by a train on a CN railway line in Sundridge, where she grew up.

Police say she was travelling eastbound on Paget St. at about 3 p.m. when her car collided with the southbound train.

Lang was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police say the railway lights and bells were working at the time of the crash.

Childhood friend Kathy Copeman-Stewart described Lang as "a remarkable woman."
