Lan Rao has been named Mountain Metropolitan Transit (MMT) transit division manager. Rao has been serving as acting transit division manager since July 2022. Prior to her role as acting transit division manager, she served as MMT's transit administrator.
“This position requires a unique skill set, array of knowledge and demeanor. Lan is able to navigate all of the federal intricacies while not losing sight of the overall mission. She is exceptionally gifted and the city of Colorado Springs is fortunate to have her,” said MMT Public Works Director Travis Easton.
Rao started her career with the Transit Services Division of the city of Colorado Springs in 2008 and has been promoted multiple times, consistently taking on higher levels of responsibilities. During that time, Rao helped MMT rise from a near collapse during the Great Recession in 2009, where nearly half of MMT’s services had to be cut.
