The Honolulu Authority for Rapid Transportation’s (HART) recent city audit reveals the agency successfully completed all nine recommendations, which the Honolulu City Auditor previously deemed incomplete.
The Office of the City Auditor released the results of its follow-up audit to assess the extent that HART acted upon nine different recommendations from past audits dating back to 2016. HART says it passed with flying colors.
“In this follow-up audit, we found that all nine recommendations were completed…We would like to express our sincere appreciation for the cooperation and assistance provided to us by the HART managers and staff,” said Honolulu City Auditor Arushi Kumar.
This recent follow-up audit shows that key management positions at HART were converted from consultant positions to city positions to achieve savings. The mauka shift will also reduce the costs of utility relocations, reduce the project schedule and the need for contingency funds. A total of $165 million was saved.
City auditor recommendations from the report included creating a better management system, changes in procedure and document tracking. An internal audit system has also been created.
