SORTA welcomes Rick Bailey as new director of transit operations

Bailey brings 13 years of transit-related experience with him, including most recently oversight of fixed-route and paratransit operations, planning, scheduling, training, safety, security and more for the Greater Dayton Regional Transit Authority.

The Southwest Ohio Regional Transit Authority (SORTA) has announced Rick Bailey will join its leadership team as director of transit operations for Cincinnati Metro.

In the role, Bailey manages the delivery of fixed-route services to the community and oversees all operators; service delivery and quality; supervision; dispatching; and support and operations at Cincinnati Metro’s transit facilities and passenger hubs.

Bailey brings 13 years of transit-related experience with him to SORTA, including most recently oversight of fixed-route and paratransit operations, planning, scheduling, training, safety, security, dispatch and project management for the Greater Dayton Regional Transit Authority.

He earned his B.S. from Wright State University and holds his Certificate of Public and Social Service Transportation from the Ohio Department of Transportation.

Bailey lives with his wife and three children in Kettering, Ohio, where – when not leading Cincinnati Metro’s transit operations – he enjoys coaching his son’s baseball team during the summer months.
