Philip C. Parella, Jr., was hired by the Potomac and Rappahannock Transportation Commission (PRTC) to serve as chief financial officer for OmniRide.

As the CFO, Parella will oversee annual budgets, accounting, grants administration, procurements and reporting, as well as advise the executive director on long-term fiscal strategy. He will also supervise the finance staff and their daily operations.

Parella has more than two decades of experience working in the finance sector, serving as both a director of finance and a grants administrator.  He is coming to OmniRide after serving 15 years at Capital District Transportation Authority (CDTA) in Albany, N.Y., where he was responsible for financial operations, planning and analysis for the 306-bus system that operates 59 routes in and around the New York State Capital Region.

“I am honored that OmniRide and the Prince William County footprint are attractive enough to bring in top-notch talent for the chief financial officer position,” said OmniRide Executive Director Bob Schneider. “Mr. Parella knows federal, state and local funding streams as well as close connections with the federal grant system itself. His peers inside and outside of CDTA spoke highly of his leadership and he has a track record of developing his team. We look forward to welcoming him and his family to the national Capital Region.”

Parella earned an M.S. in management with a concentration in finance from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, N.Y., and a B.S. in business administration with a concentration in management information systems from Alfred University in Alfred, N.Y. He has served on numerous boards, including as president of the Lansingburgh Little League, Troy Patriots Pop Warner and the Burgh Basketball Association. He also served as treasurer of the board at his alma mater Catholic Central High School.

Parella said, “I look forward to helping OmniRide successfully emerge from the pandemic and hope to bring new ideas for how we can meet the changing needs of our customers.”

He and his wife Melissa have four children who are all looking forward to new adventures in Virginia.
