The Torrance Transit System has received the Transit Agency of the Year Award at the Small Operator Awards Ceremony hosted by the California Transit Assocation (CTA) as part of its 54th Annual Fall Conference and Expo.

The award honors one small operator among similar transit systems across the state that has demonstrated excellence in the performance of their system that includes ridership, customer service, service expansion and financial management.

“This is an incredible honor for our agency,” said Kim Turner, director of Torrance Transit. “We pride ourselves on being the little agency doing big things for our customers and the South Bay region. Everyone at Torrance Transit contributed to this award through their hard work and dedication to service. We also thank our customers and patrons who continue to support and choose to ride Torrance Transit.”

Over the last three years, Torrance Transit has successfully executed key projects that have helped to improve safety, increase ridership, enhance multi-modal travel, improve communication and overall regional service.

Torrance Transit was established in January of 1940 and has been in continuous operation for nearly 80 years. The agency operates 11 fixed-bus routes which include one rapid bus and one express service and is a department within the city of Torrance.
