Public transport is a core component of any modern mobility concept and is becoming increasingly important. The Karlsruhe region’s expertise in this field is recognised worldwide. This is why the International Association of Public Transport has decided to expand its network in this region. A new cooperation agreement, the so-called UITP-Karlsruhe Mobility Innovation Partnership, has now been signed and sealed with the Karlsruhe TechnologyRegion. The new partnership is supported by regional mobility experts such as the PTV Group.
Karlsruhe's local alliance of businesses, research centres and public institutions stands for accumulated expertise in mobility, creating a clear win-win situation. "The commitment to the Mobility Innovation Partnership makes innovations and expertise from Karlsruhe more visible. At the same time, it strengthens the relationship and cooperation between the local actors," explains Vincent Kobesen, CEO of the PTV Group.
PTV contributes its market-leading Visum software for advanced public transport planning as well as tools for traffic simulation and the evaluation of Mobility-as-a-Service offerings. As part of the new mobility platform created within the RegioMove research project, the company is also developing algorithms for multimodal travel planning in real-time. PTV's digital transport models enable public authorities and public transport operators to plan public transport strategically, always based on the citizens' mobility needs. The balance between supply and expected demand makes it possible to minimise costs, optimise revenues and thus offer sustainable and affordable mobility services.
Besides the PTV Group, the founding partners of the UITP liaison office are: Karlsruher Verkehrsverbund (Karlsruhe Public Transport Association, KVV) with AVG (Albtal Transport Corporation) and VBK (Karlsruhe Transport Company), the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT), the FZI Research Centre for Information Technology, INIT AG, Karlsruhe University of Applied Sciences (HsKA), Karlsruher Messe- und Kongress GmbH (KMK) and the Karlsruhe Chamber of Industry and Commerce.
