TranSystems’ Lawrence Kirchner Promoted to Senior Associate

TranSystems has announced the promotion of Lawrence Kirchner, PE, SE, of the firm’s Chicago office to vice president and senior associate.

TranSystems has announced the promotion of Lawrence Kirchner, PE, SE, of the firm’s Chicago office to vice president and senior associate.

Kirchner has more than 30 years of experience in structural design and project management for a wide range of bridge, roadway, and rail projects in Illinois and throughout the United States. He has extensive experience managing improvement projects for the Illinois Department of Transportation, Chicago DOT, Metra and other agencies. Kirchner has led the design of roadway, rail, and pedestrian bridges, aircraft taxiway bridges, rail station platforms, pedestrian underpasses, and retaining walls. His project experience includes the Wacker Drive Reconstruction, Torrence Avenue Lift Span Rehabilitation, and Metra’s Milwaukee District North Bridge Z-100 over the Fox River. 

As a nominee for senior associate, he was measured on client relationships and sales, management and operations ability, and specialized subject matter expertise. Kirchner’s promotion is part of an annual process determined by the firm’s partner performance and development committee, a committee formed in 2003 to refine the company’s leadership development standards by identifying a process for selecting future leaders and owners.  

He holds a Master of Business Administration from DePaul University and a Bachelor of Science in Engineering Science and Mechanics from Virginia Tech.

Kirchner serves on the board of directors for the Structural Engineers Association of Illinois. He also is involved with the American Railway Engineering and Maintenance-of-Way Association, the American Society of Civil Engineers, and the American Council of Engineering Companies.
