Walter Burke has joined the environment practice of Mott MacDonald as a vice president for geotechnical services. He is based at Mott MacDonald’s headquarters in Iselin, New Jersey.

Walter Burke’s expertise encompasses geotechnical/foundation engineering studies, shallow and deep foundation systems, slope stability, ground improvement measures, solid waste disposal facilities, landfill closure, and environmental engineering.

“Walter Burke brings us 40 years of professional experience in the fields of geotechnical and geo-environmental engineering,” said Nick DeNichilo, president and CEO of Mott MacDonald in North America. “He offers skills that will add to our strength of our offerings not only in the Environment Practice but across all the sectors we serve, from aviation and tunneling to railways and bridges.”

Burke has provided geotechnical services for projects including the Red Bull Soccer Stadium (Harrison, New Jersey), Adventure Aquarium (Camden, New Jersey), Harrah’s Casino/Hotel (Atlantic City, New Jersey), Pier C Park (Hoboken, New Jersey), SUNY Albany, and the Channel 22 Television Transmission Tower (Seattle, Washington).

Burke has authored and/or presented technical articles, case studies, and publications to numerous professional organizations, including the USEPA Landfill Methane Outreach Program, the Federation of New York Solid Waste Associations, the 21st International Conference on Solid Waste Technology and  Management, Brownfields 2006, and the Deep Foundations Institute. He was a contributing editor to the “Landfill Closure and Reuse of Land” chapter of the Encyclopedia of Sustainability Science and Technology.
