Franklin Transit Authority Announces New Appointments of Williamson County Commissioner

The Franklin Transit Authority has announced the appointments of Williamson County Commissioner Brian Beathard and Eric McElroy with HDR Inc. to the Franklin Transit Authority.

The Franklin Transit Authority has announced the appointments of Williamson County Commissioner Brian Beathard and Eric McElroy with HDR Inc. to the Franklin Transit Authority.

Dale Thomas, incoming Franklin Transit Authority chairman, said: “We are so honored to welcome Brian Beathard and Eric McElroy as the newest members to the Franklin Transit Authority. Brian’s vast experience in governmental affairs serving as a Williamson County Commissioner and his experience in the transportation industry; in addition to Eric’s daily experience as a project engineer working on transportation projects statewide are such an assets to the Franklin Transit Authority. Developing and expanding Franklin’s transit solutions in an efficient and effective manner is vital to our area, as we continue meeting the city’s public transportation needs.”

Regarding his appointment to the Franklin Transit Authority, Commissioner Brian Beathard stated: “I am excited to get to work with the incredible people at the Franklin Transit Authority.  It is an honor to be asked.  I look forward to serving on a board that is helping to serve and meet Franklin’s transit needs.  And I am especially thrilled to get to work with Executive Director, Debbie Henry and The TMA Team; whom I respect greatly.”   

Beathard currently serves as Williamson County Commissioner in the 11th district. A business owner and executive in the transportation industry, he resides in historic downtown Franklin with his wife Lisa and their two children, Ava and Payce. He sits on the boards of the Heritage Foundation, and the Downtown Neighborhood Association. Additionally, Beathard serves on the Williamson County Education Committee and is Chair of the County Property Committee. Previous boards include: Franklin Tomorrow, and the Carnton Plantation. He is a charter member of the Downtown Franklin Rotary Club. Brian and Lisa were initial contributors to the restoration of the Franklin Theatre.

Eric McElroy

Regarding his appointment to the Franklin Transit Authority, McElroy stated: “I am looking forward to serving on the Franklin Transit Authority in order to provide my community with better avenues of transportation.  I have personally seen Franklin grow tremendously over the past 35 years, and would love to be a part of the solution for relieving some of the issues that face our community as it continues to grow and prosper.”   

McElroy is a Franklin native who currently works for HDR, Inc. as a Project Manager overseeing various transportation and multimodal projects throughout the state of Tennessee. He and his wife, Whitney reside in Franklin. A graduate of Battle Ground Academy and the University of Alabama, he has a passion for promoting efficient and effective transportation designs that will maximize the commuter experience for the citizens of Franklin, Tennessee.

Additional members of the Franklin Transit Authority include:  Dale Thomas (incoming Chairman), city of Franklin Vice Mayor Pearl Bransford, Ramon Cisneros, Kerry Perkinson and Hays Waldrop. All members of the Franklin Transit Authority are nominated by the City of Franklin Mayor and appointed by the Franklin Board of Mayor and Aldermen.
