On September 7 & 8, 2016 Maxton Manufacturing Company held elevator control valve training classes at Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority (SEPTA) in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. 22 mechanics attended the 4 classes over the two days receiving continuing education credits (4.0 credit hours) through the NAEC’s approved continuing education program. Each session was made up of classroom instruction, Q&A, and practical hands on valve adjustment/troubleshooting with the Maxton TA4M portable elevator training unit.
The elevator mechanics were engaged while learning new points, techniques, and corrections with the valves along with re-affirming the basics. This working knowledge of and with the valves raises confidence and increases performance within each mechanic towards solving common issues found in the field.
“The instructors were knowledgeable and professional…the training provided beneficial information to enhance the knowledge and skill of the crew,” said Colleen May, chief instructor training for SEPTA.
“The transit elevator environment is one of the most demanding and challenging for mechanics. The training we impart will go a long way towards getting an upper hand,” said Billy Shrum, technical manager for Maxton.
