Mass Transit Weekly Update 8/5/2016

Aug. 5, 2016
This weeks transit update features videos from TEB Technology, The San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency (SFMTA), TriMet, Bay Area Rapid Transit (BART) and the Maryland Transit Administration (MTA).

TEB Technology has completed its inaugural test run of the new Transit Elevated Bus, which straddles the road and allows for cars to pass beneath it. TEB integrates the advantages of BRT (Bus Rapid Transit) and subway transportation technologies that can be used for highly trafficked roadways in cities.

The San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency hosted the popular Cable Car Bell Ringing Contest. This was the 53rd event and it was held at noon on July 7 in Union Square. The contest had two divisions, one for cable car grips and conductors and another for amateur bell-ringers competing on behalf of the charity of their choice.

The public was invited to celebrate with TriMet - BikeTown, Portland's public bike share system, launched with an event at Tilikum Crossing.

Bay Area Rapid Transit's (BART) Structures Crews laid concrete pads, creating supports for new electrical cable as part of BART's rebuilding efforts.

The Maryland Transit Administration (MTA) continues to make repairs and upgrades on the Metro Subway between Mondawmin Station and Milford Mill. MTA provided a look, from the air, at the state of affairs as it was about a week ago, east of West Cold Spring and east of Rogers Avenue.
