Albuquerque Rapid Transit service has begun on the west side to the BioPark for River of Lights. Additionally, ART drivers are training throughout the entire ART service area.

Drivers must use extreme caution and never enter the ART bus lane. Drivers may not cross the ART Bus Only lane to make a left turn. The only legal left turns are at traffic signals. The ART bus lane is for ART buses and emergency vehicles only. Drivers who enter the ART lane will be ticketed.

Rumble strips have been placed on both sides of the ART bus lane to alert drivers if they accidentally enter the ART Bus Only lane. Additionally, Bus Only decals have been placed throughout the ART corridor.

“It is never safe for drivers to enter the ART Bus Only lane,” said Dayna Crawford, ART project manager. “Buses are now in the ART lane, and drivers need to change their habits. Left turns are permitted only at traffic signals, where drivers can also make legal U-turns. The ART lane is now permanently closed to the driving public.”
