The Franklin Transit Authority has announced that Chairman Preston Elliott will retire from the Authority effective June 30, 2017.

Elliott has served as Chairman of the Franklin Transit Authority since 2007; he has been a member of the Authority since 2005. He is a certified planner with RPM Transportation Consultants, based in Nashville, Tennessee.

“It is hard to believe it has been twelve years. It seems like yesterday we were cutting the ribbon for the new transit center building, getting the hybrid electric trolley, and starting TODD service. It has been an honor serving on the transit authority knowing that we were making lives better by increasing mobility to our residents and offering service to key events in the downtown and throughout Franklin. I am excited to know transit service options are expanding and the future for Franklin and our region will continue to provide needed transportation services to our ever growing community,” stated Preston Elliott.

“On behalf of The TMA Group and Franklin Transit Authority I would like to thank Preston for his insightful leadership and steadfast support throughout these years of growth for our transit service,” said Debbie Henry, executive director of The TMA Group. “Preston’s professional experience, keen observation, and determined pursuit of building a successful public transit service for Franklin has inspired each of us.”

At the May 18, 2017 Franklin Transit Authority meeting, Dale Thomas, who has served on the Franklin Transit Authority since 2009 was elected the new Chairman effective July 1, 2017. Additionally, Nancy Fletcher-Blume was honored for her eight years of service on the Franklin Transit Authority.
