The recent fire experienced at Ozark Regional Transit’s facilities earlier this year, and the resulting lack of adequate public transportation in the region for nine days afterward, brought to light many stories of stress and worry by ORT passengers.

These stories reflected the need for the service to get to work, to get to class and to access social and medical services. These concerns were realized on a group and even a personal level.

It is in this light, and with approval of ORT’s board of directors, that ORT proudly announced that U.S. Veterans, with valid Veterans Administration (VA) ID, will enjoy fixed route services free of fare beginning Monday, June 5, 2017 and as permanent policy for the future.

This policy is for the fixed-routes only as the pre-scheduled para-transit and demand/response models will remain at the regular fare.
