rabbittransit Partners with Delta Leaders to Expand Service

rabbittransit has announced its partnership with Mason-Dixon Community Services in an attempt to increase ridership in the Delta region.

rabbittransit has announced its partnership with Mason-Dixon Community Services in an attempt to increase ridership in the Delta region. Paratransit, also called Shared Ride, is a convenient, door-to-door public transportation service available in all 67 counties in Pennsylvania. Paratransit connects people to doctor’s offices, grocery stores, senior centers, and other destinations across each county.

After a meeting with several board members of Mason-Dixon Community Services and Delta stakeholders, rabbittransit is expanding its Shared Ride service to include an earlier morning pick-up time of 9 a.m. The goal of the program is to assist residents of the Delta area to increase access to healthcare and employment opportunities, which are traditionally found in the greater York area. For non-life sustaining or employment trips, the service provides a 9 a.m. and 11 a.m. average arrival time in York with an average return time back to Delta at 12:00 p.m. and 3:30 p.m.

Founded in 1983 in Delta, Mason-Dixon Community Services, Inc. is a 501 (C) 3 non-profit human services agency whose goal is to provide a safety net in the community for struggling individuals and families. The agency offers emergency services (food, utility, and eviction prevention) as well as services designed to break the cycle of poverty. Today, the agency serves more than 25,000 individuals annually.

“We are excited at the prospect of this collaboration and are beginning to have more and more community conversations to help bridge the gap of awareness regarding public transportation options, primarily Shared Ride, and how it works,” commented rabbittransit Executive Director, Richard Farr.

This partnership follows the recent release of a video campaign rabbittransit created to help educate community stakeholders on the popular question, “What is Shared Ride?”. The 90-second, illustrated video is the product of discussions between rabbittransit and a group known as “Access to Care,” a committee that was formed to help explore the barriers between healthcare and transportation.
