St. Cloud Metro Bus hosted its local bus roadeo competition at K-lot at St. Cloud State University at 1 pm on May 19. The day before representatives of St. Cloud Sister City of Spalt, Germany had the opportunity to test the course after their tour of the New Flyer bus manufacturer plant.

More than 17 professional Metro Bus drivers will compete in both the large and small bus divisions today.
The top two winners from each division will progress to the state competition held this year on July 9, in Winona. Metro Bus drivers who place first at state earn the chance to compete at the national level.

Next week, Dial-a-Ride driver Todd DeZurik will compete in the National Community Transit Roadeo for small buses, hosted by the Community Transportation Association of America in Portland, Oregon.

The Bus Roadeo provides the opportunity for operators to showcase their driving skills and be recognized for the jobs they do every day, while gaining new insights through challenging competition. Participants are scored on navigating through an obstacle course of orange road cones with a time limit, testing various real-life driving scenarios.
