Since 2008, City Market has worked with CCTA (soon to be GMT) to provide transportation benefits to their employees through the purchase of Smart Business passes. Beginning March 2016, they join the Unlimited Access program which will allow system-wide transportation access to their employees.

City Market’s general manager, John Tashiro, is excited to further incent Co-op employees to use alternative means of transportation to commute. “City Market has over 225 employees, many of whom live in and around Burlington, within

GMT’s area of service. We are a proud supporter of our public transit system and continue to try and find ways to make it easier for employees to use alternative transportation. GMT’s Unlimited Access program will allow us to do just that and will be more efficient for our Human Resources Department. As we expand into the South End, employees’ use of public transit will only continue to grow so this is a great time for us to make this transition.”

“City Market is a natural fit for this program,” said Karen Walton, general manager. “With their continued growth and commitment to sustainability coupled with the challenges Burlington faces with congestion and parking, we felt this was a good opportunity to provide an option for commuters who work at City Market. We hope that this will encourage other employers to see GMT as a valuable resource and consider this benefit for their employees.”
