Linz Linien GmbH Entrusts Van Hool and Vossloh Kiepe with 20 Double Articulated Trolleybuses

Jan. 6, 2016

Vossloh Kiepe delivers all the electric equipment for the traction and on-board power supply inclusive of a traction battery as the auxiliary drive. Moreover, remote diagnostic help is realised with data transfer via Wi-Fi.

The vehicle will be a double-articulated trolleybus of the ExquiCity Design, a trolleybus novelty.

The traction battery can also be used for short distances without overhead contact lines. It is charged when the trolleybus is driving in sections with overhead contact lines (In Motion Charging (IMC)).

The vehicles will be designed and mounted by Van Hool in Lier Koningshooikt, Belgium. The first innovative vehicles are scheduled for delivery to the city of Linz in the middle of 2017.

Besides the order for the new vehicles Linz Linien GmbH has placed an order for the maintenance of its entire vehicle fleet for a period of 15 years. Since 1983 Kiepe has consistently been the supplier of electric equipment for the trolleybuses in Linz.
