Nobina, the Nordic public bus specialist, has just invested in 55 Access-IS LSR110 barcode readers for its fleet of buses in Umeå, Sweden.
Following a trend away from paper ticketing toward the greater flexibility and long term cost savings delivered by electronic ticketing with mobile phones, the roll out will initially cater for all standard tickets before including season and discount tickets in the very near future.
This application also includes the additional benefit of using the same ticketing/barcoding software found in 12 other counties across the region meaning passengers are able to buy tickets in their home city and many others, all via the same Smartphone app.
Tomas Lundgren, of systems integrator Fält Communications, commented, “The Access-IS device was an obvious choice given its small footprint, robust design and fast, reliable barcode reading. With a long and successful track record supplying products into the airline industry we felt assured that Access-IS could deliver the devices to help make this project a success.”
