The National Alliance of Public Transportation Advocates (NAPTA) is pleased to announce the appointment of Marnie O’Brien Primmer as chair. NAPTA is a national coalition of local transit advocacy organizations with membership of more than 5,000 organizations and individuals.
O’Brien Primmer brings more than 14 years of experience in transportation infrastructure, planning and development, and community outreach in southern California to the organization, and is a driving force on behalf of residents regarding funding issues as well as the progress made leading to the passage of MAP-21. She currently serves as the executive director of Mobility 21, a five-county transportation coalition in Southern California.
“As a longtime transportation advocate, I’m excited to chair NAPTA because coalition building at the grassroots level is critical to make sure our transportation needs are fully funded in the next bill cycle,” said O’brien Primmer. “With increased investment, we can expand all of our transportation options and reduce the time we spend sitting in traffic or waiting for the next bus or train to arrive.”
Michael Melaniphy, president and CEO of the American Public Transportation Association (APTA) reacted to the news stating, “APTA is proud to have a strong partnership with NAPTA and I look forward to working with Marnie to make the case for improving public transit choices for all Americans. We will work directly with NAPTA in support of increasing investment in public transportation. I know that Marnie takes this to heart and will be a great advocate and leader for NAPTA.
