Young Artists Featured on COTA

During a brief event recognizing the young artists and introducing the placards to the community, the six pieces of art will be on display in a single COTA bus with the artists on hand.

The Central Ohio Transit Authority (COTA) and the Greater Columbus Arts Council (GCAC) celebrate the art of local youth, influenced by poetry and the civil rights movement.

Selected pieces are now on display in COTA's fleet of 300 buses.

During a brief event recognizing the young artists and introducing the placards to the community, the six pieces of art will be on display in a single COTA bus with the artists on hand.

Several of the youth will see their art for the first time in its mobile art project destination — a bus.

Through Poetry in Motion, a project using poems with the guiding theme of "The Power of One" and civil rights, local students with TRANSIT ARTS and GCAC's Art in the House program created artwork to pair with selected poetry.

This art project was established through a partnership between COTA, GCAC and the Poetry Society of America, and has been successfully implemented in several other cities' transit systems.
