The Federal Transit Administration (FTA) recently announced grant recipients for the FY2022 Low- or No-Emission Vehicle Program (Low-No) as well as the grants for Buses and Bus Facilities competitive program (Buses and Bus Facilities), including 27 awards supported by the Center for Transportation and the Environment (CTE) with 22 listing CTE as a project partner.
The 2021 Bipartisan Infrastructure Bill (BIL) included historic levels of funding for transit agencies to purchase, lease, replace or rehabilitate zero-emission and low-emission transit buses and supporting infrastructure. Out of the $1.6 billion awarded through both programs this year, the agencies that CTE supported in their grant applications were awarded more than $267 million.
CTE works with transit agencies across the country to provide proposal support, project management and technical assistance services for zero-emission bus planning and deployment projects, including full-fleet transition plans. CTE has a strong track record of helping transit agencies develop winning Low-No grant applications. Since the program’s inception, transit agencies that partner with CTE have enjoyed more than double the success rate of agencies not supported by CTE. Once awarded, CTE says it guides the projects using a proven methodology that is designed to mitigate risk and ensure successful zero-emission bus deployments.

The Low-No and Buses and Bus Facilities programs are instrumental in helping transit agencies obtain the necessary funding for launching or expanding their zero-emission fleets. CTE says it looks forward to working with FY2022 Low-No and Bus and Bus Facilities partner agencies to ensure successful, well-planned deployments.
