The acquisition will allow National Express Transit to expand its coach operations in the Boston area.

National Express Transit Corp. has acquired Fox Bus Lines, Inc., also known as Silver Fox Coaches, which operates in the Boston, Mass., area. National Express says the acquisition will allow the company to further expand its base of retail and contracted coach operations in a key market.

Silver Fox Bus Lines was founded more than 40 years ago and is owned and operated by the second generation of the Fox family. Three of the siblings, Bill, Brian and Steve Fox, will continue to operate the business, with a focus on growth and the continuation of safe and excellent customer service. Operating 30 vehicles, the business is located west of Boston in Millbury, and located in the heart of New England.

“We are very excited to join the National Express family as it will provide wonderful opportunities in all respects for our staff, our loyal customers and for the travelling public,” said Brian Fox, president, Fox Bus Lines. “We look forward to partnering with corporate and municipal agencies to bring new ideas to improve the ever-increasing traffic congestion in metro Boston. National Express has demonstrated its expertise both on the West Coast and in the UK as being an industry leader by providing innovative group transportation solutions.”

Silver Fox’s largest customer is the Massachusetts Port Authority (MassPort), which it has served for the past 25 years. MassPort is the agency responsible for the operation of Boston’s Logan Airport (among others) and Silver Fox operates the contract for the Framingham Logan Express.

“Boston is an extremely attractive market due to the large number of universities, medical centers and major corporations located there. Fox already services some of the largest universities in the area for their athletic work. We are excited about this acquisition of Silver Fox as it makes us well-positioned to target growth with our WeDriveU partnership in the corporate, university and shuttle verticals,” said Judith Crawford, CEO, Transit and Shuttle, National Express Transit Corp.
