St. Cloud Metro Bus, Royal Tire and Townsquare Media are hosting a food drive at participating Coborn’s, Cash Wise, Lunds + Byerly’s and Walmart stores to help area families this holiday season. The goal of the “Fill the Flyer” food drive is to collect a bus load of food and non-perishable items for the St. Cloud Salvation Army and the Catholic Charities Emergency Services food shelves. Donations can be dropped off at the New Flyer Metro Bus parked at the locations listed below.
Since 2011, this winter drive has collected more than 13,000 pounds and approximately $5,000 in cash donations for Catholic Charities and the Salvation Army. With the matching opportunity, $5,000 becomes $10,000.
Cash donations are encouraged because they have the opportunity to be matched through the Skalicky Foundation’s annual Charity Challenge, which will match every dollar donated to three area food shelves this holiday season. Food shelves also have 3-5 times more purchasing power than individuals, making cash gifts ideal.
