Media  to Tour Future Route of Albuquerque Rapid Transit

Aug. 19, 2015

ABQ Ride is inviting news media to join them for the Transit in Motion “Talk, Tour & Toasts” along the Central Avenue corridor on Aug. 19. The event will provide insight to the city’s newest transportation innovation, Albuquerque Rapid Transit.

Several other cities across the country have experienced positive results with bus rapid transit. We are excited to explain what it can do within Albuquerque to make public transportation an easier and more effective option, as well as being a catalyst for development and redevelopment along Central Avenue.

The evening begins at 6 p.m. at the Mid-Region Council of Governments Board Room for an interactive discussion. The Urban Bus Tour will start at 7 p.m. outside the MRCOG offices to showcase the potential the ART project has and the difference it can make for the transportation down Albuquerque’s most used corridor, Central Avenue.  The tour will travel to the Old Town area, Nob Hill, and return to Downtown. There will be a stop at Civic Plaza to give participants a chance to enjoy the Sunset Market.

For participants, this event will showcase transit-oriented development and the leaps and bounds the city of Albuquerque is making to strengthen the public transportation system.
