Aug. 5, 2015

As Sun Tran officials and representatives of Teamsters Local 104 continue to negotiate a new contract, the current contract extension is set to expire at 11:59 p.m. on Aug. 5. In the event an agreement is not reached, union members may authorize a work stoppage as early as 12:01 a.m. on Aug. 6.

In the event of a work stoppage, Sun Tran will offer limited weekday service from approximately 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. on the following routes:

  • Route 3 – 6th St./Wilmot
  • Route 8 – Broadway
  • Route 11 – Alvernon
  • Route 16 –Oracle/Ina
  • Route 18 – South 6th Avenue

Limited service maps and schedules are available at transit centers, online and by calling Customer Service.

Riders are urged to plan accordingly and identify potential transportation alternatives.

In the event of a disruption in service, the City of Tucson’s Park Tucson will allow Sun Tran bus pass holders to park in the surface lot on the south east corner of 6th Street at Stone Avenue, at no charge. If passengers are not planning on using their SunGO Card, SunGO ID & Card or Ticket, just leave your SunGO Card, SunGO ID & Card or SunGO Ticket in the window for parking enforcement to know you qualify to park at no charge.

In the event of a strike transit services that are not affected include Sun Van, the city of Tucson’s paratransit service; Sun Link streetcar and Sun Shuttle, neighborhood transportation service provided by the Regional Transportation Authority serving Marana, Oro Valley, Catalina, Sahuarita, Green Valley, San Xavier, Ajo, Rita Ranch and Tucson Estates.

Sun Tran will keep the community updated on the status of the labor negotiations through local media outlets.
