Sun Tran officials and representatives from Teamsters Local 104 have announced an agreement to extend the current contract which was to expire at midnight, July 31. Both sides have agreed to extend the contract until 11:59 p.m., Aug. 5. Buses will run as scheduled through the contract extension date. Sun Tran has provided the Union with a final offer, which the Teamsters membership will vote on during three meetings held Aug. 1.
Sun Tran General Manager Kate Riley and Teamsters Secretary-Treasurer Andy Marshall are hopeful that an agreement can be reached. Both parties expressed appreciation for Sun Tran customers' and employees’ patience as representatives continue to negotiate. The public can expect business as usual through Aug. 5.
