Chuck Heffernan to Lead Psomas Santa Clarita Engineering Team

City of Palmdale Director of Development Services Chuck Heffernan is joining Psomas as a vice president in the engineering group. Heffernan will be leading the engineering team in the firm’s Santa Clarita office.

“We are really excited to have Chuck joining our team. He’s a leader in the land development industry, with strong relationships in both the public and private sector,” said Matt Clark, Psomas’ corporate director of engineering, in making the announcement.

Heffernan will be responsible for directing the firm’s engineering operation in the Santa Clarita Valley and surrounding region, as well as assisting with efforts in other regions.

As Palmdale’s director of development services, Heffernan was responsible for the city’s engineering, planning, and building and safety divisions. During his five-year tenure with the city he also served as assistant director of public works/city engineer, with responsibility for the traffic engineering, public works inspection and capital projects divisions.

Prior to joining the city of Palmdale, Heffernan managed design and construction on many commercial, residential and large-scale public works projects. Previously, he was with KB Home as vice president — land entitlement. Before that, Heffernan was with Newhall Land as vice president — operations and land development during the construction of its Westridge, Bridgeport, Creekside, Westcreek, and Valencia Commerce Center projects; and the reconstruction of the Valencia Blvd./I-5 interchange.

Heffernan holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Wisconsin and is a licensed engineer and general engineering contractor in the state of California.
