Tracey Bessellieu, vice president and director of talent at Parsons Brinckerhoff, received the 2014 Shirley A. DeLibero Award as part of the Conference of Minority Transportation Officials’ (COMTO) Women Who Move the Nation Awards program held recently in Washington, D.C.
The organization sponsors its Women Who Move the Nation awards program every March to coincide with Women’s History Month. "Just as it led the way in providing real opportunities for people of color, the transportation industry is opening doors for women … doors leading to executive office suites. COMTO is delighted to continue our yearly tradition of honoring women pioneers across the spectrum of transportation modalities," said Julie Cunningham, COMTO CEO and president.
During the March 12 awards program, Cliff Eby, president of Parsons Brinckerhoff’s U.S. transportation company, announced that Parsons Brinckerhoff will add to its COMTO scholarships with a fourth annual grant, to benefit a woman undertaking graduate studies in transportation. “With this scholarship, Parsons Brinckerhoff honors Tracey and continues our support of the COMTO national scholars program,” he said.
Bessellieu has served as the chair of COMTO’s national scholars committee since 2011. In this role she is responsible for leading a team of public and private industry professionals that awards scholarships for emerging professionals interested in the transportation industry. She is also a member of COMTO’s strategic planning committee.
At Parsons Brinckerhoff, a global infrastructure strategic consulting, engineering, and program/construction management organization, Bessellieu is responsible for leading U.S.-based human resources operations, recruiting, and engagement teams. In this role she designs and administers the firm’s employment practices including talent management and strategy development. She coordinates the organizations’ global succession planning process and leadership development activities, and has designed and administers engagement activities to attract, develop, and retain high-caliber professionals. She serves as a project manager for the company’s global diversity oversight committee.
Prior to joining Parsons Brinckerhoff in 2008, Bessellieu managed a team of organizational development consultants and employee engagement specialists in the development of support programs at New York-Presbyterian Hospital’s Center for Organizational and Leadership Effectiveness. She previously served as a senior diversity instructor at MBS Associates and was director of community affairs at the Institute for Urban Family Health.
