Freightquip and U.S.-based Whiting Corp. have established a strategic partnership with Freightquip as a distributor of Whiting railcar maintenance equipment and custom overhead cranes in Australia.

Whiting Corp. has a history of producing durable, safe, reliable and efficient cranes for applications where safety and reliability are critical, including steel, energy, waste, automotive and infrastructure industries, as well as public transit authorities, rail maintenance and many of the largest manufacturing companies in the U.S.

Whiting has also been a leading name for railcar maintenance and lifting equipment for the freight and commuter railroad industries, municipal transit authorities, railcar builders and independent maintenance shops.

"Our alliance with Whiting Corporation, the premier manufacturer of railcar maintenance equipment for Class 1 and transit rail in the US, uniquely positions Freightquip to provide the absolute best and most reliable products available to our customers in Australia and complements our existing products including Zephir’s electric railcar shunters,” said  Neil McDonell, rail business development manager for Freightquip. “This new partnership uniquely positions Freightquip to offer comprehensive solutions to the markets we serve here in Australia.”

Whiting’s safety and quality control are valued by high-technology industries including aerospace and nuclear energy.

"We are pleased to have Freightquip as part of the team,” said Edward Yakos, senior vice president, Whiting Corp.

“Whiting's extensive experience and sterling reputation in Class 1 and transit rail combined with Freightquip's understanding of the Australian markets will be good for Whiting and Freightquip and great for our existing and new customers in Australia."

“Whiting’s outstanding design and service equipment provides the safety, reliability and efficiency necessary for meeting the exacting standards of the $60 billion U.S. freight freight rail network, which is widely considered one of the most dynamic freight systems in the world, involving 140,000 rail miles (225,000km),” said Yakos. “The same high standards required in the U.S. are directly relevant to the Australian markets served by Freightquip, which services an industry operating over vast distances and meet the needs of transport, mining and materials handling clients operating over hugely diverse and challenging environments where safety and reliability are paramount.”
