The event provided a detailed look at successful AV programs from concept to deployment and the firm is providing private tours of its AV technology at APTA EXPO.

Stantec recently held an interactive event, showcasing autonomous vehicle (AV) solutions and demonstrating how Florida communities and municipalities can successfully deploy AV strategies. The event, An AV Adventure to Remember, took place on Sunday, November 7 in Orlando and was hosted by the firm’s Generation AV® practice along with partners Oceaneering International, Inc. and 2getthere.

The event provided a detailed look at successful AV programs from concept to deployment. This included an interactive digital scavenger hunt that led people through the GenerationAV six-phase AV deployment process and a ride on an autonomous shuttle through a mock complete street environment. The event also featured Stantec GenerationAV technology partners dRISK, ICARUS Ops, kVA by UL, WHILL Inc., Swiftmile and POCO Labs.

“New mobility solutions, like AVs and micromobility, will play a vital role in improving the livability of communities worldwide and events like this help cities and local municipalities learn about the emerging technology and plan for the future,” said Corey Clothier, founder and director of Stantec GenerationAV. “In the coming years, AV programs can help Florida cities, in particular, support the needs of their growing populations and realize improved economic benefits.”

“Collaboration within the business community has always been pivotal to fostering innovation for Florida’s infrastructure and that will certainly include the AV deployment programs in our cities,” said Beth Kigel, chair of Autonomous Florida—a program of the Florida Chamber of Commerce. “Bringing these companies together to share their expertise helps us move closer to realizing our goal of making Florida the mobility innovation capital of the world.”

Stantec is part of the team selected by the Jacksonville Transportation Authority to design and build Phase 1 of the City of Jacksonville’s Ultimate Urban Circulator Program. Known as The Bay Street Innovation Corridor, the first-of-its-kind program will transform the city’s downtown through the modernization and expansion of its transit circulator to accommodate autonomous vehicles and enhance mobility. The Stantec team is also currently developing a playbook to accelerate the adoption of AV programs in cities around the world, based on Colorado’s AvCo program—the largest electric AV fleet deployment in the nation.

Stantec is offering private tours of its AV Adventure through Wednesday at APTA TRANSform Conference & EXPO 2021. Stop by Booth #2781 to connect with the team and learn more.
