NRC opens 2021 scholarship application process

The association has awarded more than $200,000 in total financial assistance and intends to award $21,000 through three scholarships in 2021.

The National Railroad Construction and Maintenance Association (NRC) has opened the application process for the NRC 2021 Scholarship Program. Children or grandchildren of NRC member company employees are eligible for the scholarship program and the deadline to apply is Thursday, Sept. 30, 2021.

The scholarship program has awarded more than $200,000 in financial assistance since its inception. A total of $21,000 will be awarded this year and will be divided as follows:

  • First place will receive $12,000;
  • Second place will receive $6,000; and
  • Third place will receive $3,000.

Scholarship funds, awarded annually, will be sent directly to the student at the beginning of the next term of study. Students must be in attendance for a full year following receipt of the award.

In order to apply, an applicant must meet the following criteria:

  • Be a child or grandchild of a current employee of an NRC member company; and
  • Be enrolled at the time of application as a full-time college student at an accredited two-year college offering an associate's degree, an accredited four-year college or university or if the student is a recent high school graduate enrolling at one of the aforementioned institutions.
