The Washington State Ferries (WSF) Scheduling System project will replace a 15+ year old software and database system that requires manual processes for planning and schedule management.(40)

The Washington State Ferries (WSF) Scheduling System project will replace a 15+ year old software and database system that requires manual processes for planning and schedule management. The current system is time consuming to use, prone to errors, and fast approaching the end of its lifespan.

The new solution will be cloud-based, provide information in real time, be capable of integrating with a variety of downstream applications, and leverage simulation technology. It will be capable of efficiently generating and managing service plans. This includes geographic service coverage, routes and destinations, and vehicle locations, schedules, types, and capacity.

While our preference is to find a Software as a Service (SaaS) solution or a Commercial Off the Shelf (COTS) solution, we recognize that our environment has unique elements. If a SaaS or COTS solution that meets our requirements is not available, we are open to vendors who can demonstrate the ability to build a solution, especially vendors with transportation related service planning and scheduling experience. This includes any vendor who can demonstrate the ability to create a solution that meets the requirements provided in Exhibit B. We will be looking to the winning bidder to host this solution, provide technical support, and manage related upgrades and updates. The ideal vendor will provide continuous product improvements that align with industry modernization standards.
