Last week's announcement that the Atlantic City rail line would shut down after Labor Day for several months of work has prompted Gov. Phil Murphy to call on New Jersey Transit to improve its communications with the public.

Last week's announcement that the Atlantic City rail line would shut down after Labor Day for several months of work has prompted Gov. Phil Murphy to call on New Jersey Transit to improve its communications with the public.

Word was released late last Friday, on paper, with no one available to explain the move.

The work will include installing positive train control on the line, which automatically slows a speeding train down if the need arises.
