INIT highlighted the innovative e-fare system implemented in the Portland-Vancouver Metropolitan Area. In 2014 TriMet implemented an account-based ticketing system from INIT and is now the first North American INIT customer of a fully integrated ITCS and ticketing system. The Hop FastPass completed testing in 2016 and beta testing began in February, 2017 and will launch in the summer.

TriMet’s Hop Fastpass is based on the central intelligence of an ID-based system and features a rigorous fare capping approach. The closed-loop smart card allows for open payment options, as well. Passengers can also use credit, debit or bank cards if the card is based on the EMV standard. Application programming interfaces (API) serve more than a dozen integration projects.

MOBILEvario is the backbone of the system, processing all transactions in real time and providing comprehensive fare management and clearing functionality. It is multi-client capable and Portland Streetcar and C-TRAN can be easily included for a regional structure.
