
Oil's continually rising cost is leading Vallejo's transportation officials to push for increases in ferry and bus fares, service cuts and fuel surcharges.
The recommendations, along with likely disgruntled ferry and bus riders, are to appear before the City Council on Tuesday night for a public hearing.

"All the agencies are going to be following suit, even if Vallejo's out in the lead," said Ford. "We do recognize that we may price ourselves out, but we're trying to not ground ourselves. Vallejo is just out in front of the curve."
The Vallejo Baylink Advisory Committee is not supporting the proposed changes, said committee member Kathy Beistel.
"Quite frankly, we feel we have not been listened to," Beistel said. "We have been working with the city and Bay Link since the inception of the ferry service back in the '80s.
