“The Meadowview Route had the largest increase in ridership with 11,081 riders in July,” said Director of Marketing Michelle Brutlag. “For the first time ever, one of our routes has transported more than 10,000 riders in a single month and eight of our 10 routes broke records for the number of riders they transported in July.”
In the month of August, River Valley Metro will add services to include Wal-Mart at exit 308 and a new fixed-route serving Manteno. The Manteno Route will provide public transportation to the Veteran’s Home, Diversitech, downtown Manteno and the Sears and Kmart Warehouses. In addition to the two new routes, some locations will also receive more frequent service. Kankakee Community College and the Eastgate Route will have service every 30 minutes, a much-needed service expansion for the riders.
New routes and additional service will begin on August 11. All of River Valley Metro’s routes will have the same hours of operation, including Sunday and major holiday service that was implemented on July 20.
Brutlag stated, “River Valley Metro is very excited to expand services where needed and look forward to serving the area better.”
