McMahon Associates Inc. Honored with Project of the Year Award

McMahon Associates Inc. was honored with the prestigious Project of the Year award with final construction cost of $5 million or more given by the American Society of Highway Engineers (ASHE) Delaware Valley Section, for its work on Forty Foot Road, S.R. 0063, Section 01L, and pedestrian bridge improvement project in Towamencin Township, Montgomery County, Pa.

The Forty Foot Road project includes the widening of the state highway within Towamencin Township from a two-lane roadway to a five-lane roadway for a distance of approximately one mile to accommodate both existing and future traffic volumes. McMahon worked on every phase of this project, dating back to the initial planning stages more than 10 years ago. The project also involved the addition of a 40-foot-wide pedestrian bridge over Forty Foot Road spanning 80 feet.

McMahon managed and coordinated the overall bridge design through its subconsultants. While the construction is still being wrapped up, the roadway was opened to traffic in December 2006 and it has significantly helped to improve traffic flow in the area and is expected to be even more beneficial in the future with the continuing development pressures in the area.

McMahon received the honor during an awards banquet on Wednesday, April 16, 2008, in King of Prussia, Pa. Jack Mitchell, P.E., associate and general manager of the Fort Washington office, who received the award on behalf of McMahon, stated, “we at McMahon are very proud to work in a strong partnership with Towamencin Township and PennDOT to see the long-ago vision come to fruition.”
