The Adirondack family of companies was founded in 1926 by John Van Gonsic, Sr. as Rip Van Winkle Line between Kingston, N.Y. and New York City. Current President Eugene J. Berardi, Jr. represents the 3rd generation of this family owned operation.
ABC Companies has delivered two 3035RE coaches to Virginia Coach Company of Purcellville, Va.
Seating 39 passengers and lavatory-equipped, the coaches are 35 feet long and 102 inches wide with 280 cubic feet of under-floor baggage space. Built on Freightliner’s XBR Coach Chassis critical areas of the structure are stainless steel. They are powered by Cummins ISB engines coupled to Allison 3000PTS transmissions. Virginia Coach specified DVD video entertainment systems with large LCD monitors, Alcoa DuraBrite aluminum wheels, and Amaya Patriot seating, so the midsized coaches please customers who are accustomed to the rest of its luxury fleet. One coach is ADA-lift equipped.
Family owned and operated, Virginia Coach was started in 1983 by Jim and Betty Jo Counselman. The fleet has expanded to 11 buses, and in addition to Jim and Betty Jo, the next generation, Debbie, Linda and son Mike are all involved in managing the growing company.
ABC Companies recently delivered a 2010 57-passenger T2145 Van Hool coach to Bestway Charter Transportation of Rosemont, Ill. This coach represents Bestway’s second new coach this year and increases its fleet to 8 luxury units… all T2145’s.
The coach features a 450HP Cummins ISM engine and 12-speed ZF Astronic transmission. The coach is equipped to match the rest of Bestway’s upscale fleet with satellite TV, Wi-Fi, multi-monitor DVD system, Hi-Fi Audio, full fabric interior and reclining Van Hool Bodyline seats with foot rests.
ABC Companies has delivered 6 new Van Hool C2045E coaches to Hola Bus Inc. of Jersey City, N.J.
President Emma Astudillo indicated that Hola had inaugurated line service connecting mid-town Manhattan to Washington, D.C., with a stop in Union City, N.J. Ticketing is done via the Internet, but walkups are accommodated on a standby basis.
All six 2010 model coaches are equipped with Detroit Diesel Series 60 Engines coupled to Allison B500 GenIV transmissions and Amaya Torino reclining seats with footrests. Several have Van Hool’s unique contoured parcel rack with 23-inch video monitors.
