There is a new leader in the driver’s seat of Pocatello Regional Transit.

At the Pocatello City Council meeting, Councilmembers confirmed Mayor Brian Blad’s appointment of Skyler Beebe to the post of director. Most recently, Beebe has served as the department’s operations manager and interim director. Prior to those jobs, he rose through the ranks starting as a driver in 2006 and moving up to dispatcher/driver and operations supervisor. Before his career at PRT, he served as an officer with Idaho State University Public Safety.

“Skyler has worked for the city for many years and is very knowledgeable about PRT’s operations,” said Mayor Brian Blad. “He also understands the federal government requirements for transit systems, which is vital to our success.”

“I look forward to continuing in the footsteps of my predecessors at PRT and serving this great city and surrounding communities as effectively and efficiently as possible,” said Beebe.

Beebe succeeded Dave Hunt who retired March 30. Beebe’s first official day on the job May 18.

“Public transportation is a lifeline for many residents,” Beebe said. “I will be working closely with our patrons, staff, and other city officials to find ways PRT can further serve our community.”

Beebe is a graduate of Idaho State University and Pocatello High School. He and his wife, Natalie, have four children Adam, Christine, Katelyn, and Tyson. Away from work, he likes to spend quality time with his family and enjoy the great outdoors Idaho offers by visiting new places, going camping, and four wheeling.
