Regional Transportation Authority Seeks New Leader as Kaplan Announces Retirement

Lori Kaplan, executive director of the Central Indiana Regional Transportation Authority (CIRTA), has announced her retirement.

Lori Kaplan, executive director of the Central Indiana Regional Transportation Authority, has announced her retirement.

Kaplan has served as executive director for two years. She joined CIRTA in 2011 as vanpool manager and was promoted to the Commuter Connect rideshare program manager before taking the executive director job. Before joining CIRTA, Kaplan served in a variety of public service roles, including commissioner of the Indiana Department of Environmental Management, chief legal counsel for the Indiana Department of Natural Resources, and director of public works for the City of Lawrence.

“On behalf of the CIRTA board, we will be forever grateful to Lori for her leadership,” said Board Chair Cassie Stockamp. “We’re eager to identify CIRTA’s next leader as we continue to implement CIRTA’s strategic plan and move forward the discussion of expanding mass transit in the region.”

The board will hire an executive search firm in the near future.
