Throughout Black History Month, everyone in Palm Beach County will notice a unique bus honoring the life and legacy of Martin Luther King Jr.

Throughout Black History Month, everyone in Palm Beach County will notice a unique bus honoring the life and legacy of Martin Luther King Jr. It was debuted at the 2018 MLK parade sponsored by the city of Riviera Beach, Florida in honor of Dr. King’s birthday on January 13, 2018.

This year’s theme: “Youth Dreams, Adult Dreams; Become a Reality” showcased a fully wrapped 60-foot articulated Palm Tran bus adorned with a bus wrap symbolic of kente cloth, a collage picture of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and quotes from Dr. King on each side.

The lively parade held in observance of Martin Luther King Jr.’s birthday, featured high school marching bands, cheerleaders and floats.  More than 50 Palm Tran employees and volunteers marched alongside the bus greeting the crowd with free transit passes.

“Palm Tran supports equal rights and opportunities for everyone, therefore honoring the legacy of a leader in the civil rights movement is extremely important,” Palm Tran Executive Director Clinton B. Forbes said. “We love supporting the community and seeing everyone come together in remembrance of Dr. King.”

Palm Beach County residents can look forward to spotting the brightly wrapped Palm Tran bus throughout the county until March in honor of Black History Month.
