The Maryland Department of Transportation Maryland Transit Administration will provide free shuttle bus service for passengers, who are urged to plan ahead when traveling on Light RailLink this weekend.

From 7 p.m. Friday, Jan. 19, to 4 a.m. Monday, Jan. 22, Light RailLink service in downtown Baltimore will be shut down between North Avenue and Camden Yards, including Penn Station, for rail replacement and track maintenance. The Maryland Department of Transportation Maryland Transit Administration will provide free shuttle bus service for passengers, who are urged to plan ahead when traveling on Light RailLink this weekend.

“Nothing is more important than our customers’ safety,” said MDOT MTA Deputy Administrator Suhair Al Khatib. “We will do everything possible to minimize the inconvenience to our customers while we complete this critical rail work that will enhance the safety, efficiency and reliability of our system. We encourage our riders to please plan ahead and allow at least an extra hour of travel time.”

Transit ambassadors will be at the North Avenue and Camden Yards stations to help people connect to the shuttle buses, which will operate between both stations during all hours that Light RailLink is regularly in service. A shuttle also will link Penn Station and Mt. Royal/MICA to the North Avenue Light RailLink station. Passengers should exit the North Avenue and Camden Yards stations and proceed to the street, where transit ambassadors will identify shuttle bus boarding areas. Buses will run at 20- and 30-minute intervals depending on the time of day.

The following Light RailLink stations will be closed in both directions: Penn Station, Mt. Royal/MICA, Cultural Center, Mt. Vernon/Centre Street, Lexington Market, Baltimore Arena/University Center and Convention Center.
