Schaefer Inc. has introduced a DC/AC Inverter Systems for trackside signal redundancy requirements and other applications including emergency lighting.

Schaefer Inc. has introduced a DC/AC Inverter Systems for trackside signal redundancy requirements and other applications including emergency lighting. Its design and industrial grade components, provides a highly efficient solution for the most extreme environments in transit and railway installations.

Key features include third-rail DC input, single standard 208VAC or 240VAC with other 1-Phase or 3-Phase AC voltages, and power range from 5 kVA to 70 kVA. DC outputs from 12 – 800VDC also available. System options can be customized as required to include increase mechanical strength, tropical protection, Power-OK with relay, AC-OK with relay, reverse polarity protection, and synchronization with 60Hz mains as well as many others.

System meets EN 60950 compliance. To comply with other requirements of EN 60950 in regard to stability (mechanical and thermal), fire hazard, injury, etc., the equipment must be installed in an enclosure or cabinet. Cabinets can be customized as needed to include meters, MCBs, MCCBs shunt trip breaker, capacitor banks to tolerate input peak, over-voltage relay, over-frequency relay, etc. Units are designed to operate at a maximum relative humidity of 95 percent and at altitudes of up to 2000 meters.
