The Regional Transportation District’s Free MallRide bus shuttle will begin serving the newly renovated Civic Center Station beginning Nov. 12.

The MallRide has been temporarily stopping on Broadway in downtown Denver during renovations at Civic Center Station, which began last year. As of Nov. 12, Civic Center Station will once again serve as a turnaround point for the MallRide as it heads back toward Union Station along 16th Street.

Civic Center Station, one of RTD’s busiest regional bus transit centers, closed for renovations in July 2016 and is scheduled to reopen to the public on Dec. 17.

The modernized facility will provide better transit connections and improved service to the roughly 15,000 passengers who used Civic Center Station daily before the renovations began. The redesigned facility will also offer a brighter, more welcoming environment than the original facility while providing easier access to ticket sales windows, and the lost and found kiosk.

“We’re excited to move closer to reopening Civic Center Station and providing more streamlined transit connections between downtown Denver and the metro region,” said RTD’s CEO and General Manager Dave Genova.

Although the MallRide will begin dropping passengers off at the station on Nov. 12, the building will not yet be open to the public.

Construction crews are now putting the finishing touches on Civic Center Station, and RTD is planning a public event Dec. 15 to celebrate the reopening of the transit center. RTD will distribute additional information about the renovated Civic Center Station, conduct media tours, and hold public events as the opening date approaches.
