Des Moines Area Regional Transit Authority has announced it will donate three retired RideShare vans to nonprofit organizations, community groups or government agencies within DART’s service area this fall. Applications are due Nov. 3, 2017. The DART Commission created the annual van donation program in 2014 to assist agencies in providing transportation to those who may not have access to public transportation.

“DART is proud to assist community organizations who are helping people in central Iowa through this annual donation. Over the past three years, DART has donated retired RideShare vans to provide organizations that help a diverse group of central Iowans with a reliable means of transportation. We’re looking forward to awarding three new, deserving organizations with the vehicles from this year’s donation cycle,” shared DART Commission Chair Tom Gayman.

The application, rules, requirements and selection criteria for the program are available on DART’s website. Interested parties are asked to submit their application before 5 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 3.
