Blacksburg Transit Operations Supervisor Accepted into APTA's Emerging Leaders Program

Blacksburg Transit Operations Supervisor, Carissa Nichols, has been accepted into the American Public Transportation Association’s Emerging Leaders Program.

Blacksburg Transit Operations Supervisor, Carissa Nichols, has been accepted into the American Public Transportation Association’s Emerging Leaders Program.

The Emerging Leaders Program is a 12-month long professional development program dedicated to furthering the careers of those who are still new to the transit industry with approximately three to five years of experience. Only 25 applicants are selected for the program each year and Nichols is the first to be selected from Blacksburg Transit.

Nichols will have the opportunity to be mentored by some of the transit industry’s leading professionals. She will also participate in a variety of skill building workshops, round table discussions and other collaborative projects that will help her to advance in her transportation career.

"Carissa is an exceptional Blacksburg Transit Supervisor and very deserving of this honor. We look forward to learning from her as she makes her way through this program,” said Harland Brown, Blacksburg Transit operations manager.
