Members of the EarlyAct Club (An Elementary School Level Rotary Club) at St. Marcus Lutheran School, located at 2215 N. Palmer St., have a special message for Milwaukee County Transit System (MCTS) bus drivers: Thank You.

The EarlyAct Club is sponsored by the Rotary Club of Mequon-Milwaukee Afterhours (RCofMMA) and is a service club for grade school students with a focus on ages 5 to 13. It provides club members with the opportunity to gain an increased awareness and knowledge of their community and the world. Members are encouraged to be caring and helpful as well as recognize the dignity and worth of each person, which builds respect for others.

At St. Marcus, 12 fourth grade members of the RCofMMA EarlyAct Club chose as their very first service project to do something for MCTS bus drivers because they wanted to recognize the drivers’ hard-work and dedication. In all, the members created 551 personalized thank you cards for each bus driver. Each day, MCTS bus drivers give more than 150,000 rides to people going to work, school, medical appointments and everywhere MCTS goes.

“What a wonderful program and gesture from the students at St. Marcus,” said Milwaukee County Executive Chris Abele. “Like so many Milwaukee County workers, MCTS drivers are serving the public every day. It’s great to see them get this much-deserved recognition.”
