Nebraska Central Dispatching Services (NCD) recently announced the addition of two new dispatching partnerships. Denton County Transportation Authority's (DCTA) A-train and the Dakota Southern Railway (DSRC) join NCD's growing contract dispatching portfolio comprised of short line, commuter and freight railroads. The Fort Worth-based dispatch center currently supports upwards of 1,100 crew starts, while typically issuing over 1,800 Track Warrants and 200 bulletins on a monthly basis.

“The goal of any dispatching team is to safely and efficiently dispatch any Railroad while trying to mitigate any delays,” said Tres Meyer, chief operating officer. “Our dispatching team consists of ten highly-qualified dispatchers with more than 100 years of combined experience on various Class 1, short line and commuter railroads. But what really sets us apart from other dispatching services is our commitment to excellent customer service and our ability to dispatch anytime, anywhere in the world via cloud-based software. The addition of DCTA and DSRC provides a nice complement to our growing portfolio of dispatching partnerships, and we look forward to working with both lines.”

On October 1, NCD assumed dispatching services for DCTA as part of the commencement of DCTA’s new operations and maintenance agreement with First Transit. The A-train, a 21-mile regional rail system connecting Denton and Dallas Counties, provides service to five stations within Denton County and carries more than 500,000 passengers each year. DCTA is NCD’s first commuter dispatching contract. The Dakota Southern Railway stretches 189.7 miles between Kadoka, South Dakota and Mitchell, South Dakota, as well as a line from Napa to Platte, South Dakota. Originally founded in the late 1800s, the line was purchased by the South Dakota Department of Transportation, which still owns the track. DSRC serves a packaging plant at Mitchell, South Dakota and focuses on grain transportation. DSRC joins NCD’s growing roster of regional freight line contracts, which include the Nebraska Central Railroad, Natchez Railway, Texas Pacifico and the Dakota Missouri Valley and Western Railroad, among others. Dispatching service began on November 9, 2016.
